The Annual Convention of the National Lawyers Association will be held on September 27-29, 1996 at the Renaissance Chicago Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. This year's keynote address at the noon luncheon will be delivered by the Honorable Loren A. Smith, Chief Judge of the United States Court Federal Court of Claims in Washington, D.C. Judge Smith is a widely sought after speaker who delivers entertaining as well as enlightening talks. Judge Smith's topic will be "About Courts, Constitutions and Fighting Dragons". Judge Smith's address will explore the disastrous effect of "political correctness" on the judiciary. Even if you can't attend all of the planned events, you'll not want to miss Judge Smith's address.

The "96" Convention will focus on the development of legal sections and committees. During designated times, section and committee members present will be approving next year's officers, by-laws and questionnaires. Members present will be expected to determine frequency and form of future meetings, publications, dues, Internet needs and other necessary procedures to advance the development of legal sections and committees. The Board of Directors views the development of legal sections and committees as a priority and has dedicated the 1996-97 year to the development of legal sections and committees. Plan to attend this year's convention and take part in this very important next step in "Advancing a New Heritage-Expanding New Partnerships"! Also join in the networking opportunities with fellow NLA members by attending the Directors' Reception on Friday night and the Trustees' Reception on Saturday night.
