"COMMITTEE WORK - WHY YOU
These opportunities exist right now for those willing to become involved and invest their time and talent. Those who get in "on the ground floor" of newly formed committees/sections will have a great advantage in assuming leadership positions, dictating policy and will get a head start in networking and business referrals. Also, other rewards for being active include: contributing intellectually to an area of law which you find interesting by publishing articles, arranging conferences and meetings, etc.; developing new professional relationships; and meeting others with similar interests and goals. Some committees/sections already have one or two key people with the enthusiasm and talent to successfully developed them in these the formative years. However, others are still looking for key individuals to lead and develope them. Could it be you?
For those members who missed the Chicago Convention, there is no way for me to briefly summarize the events, meetings, business opportunities, networking and social occasions which occurred. Next year's convention will be held on October 2-4 in Washington, DC. I urge you to clear your calendars now. You will definitely not want to miss the networking, business opportunities and friendships which will certainly occur at the private receptions, social events, meetings and other special events which are being planned. You will be receiving more detailed information in the next few weeks
Finally, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Honorary Trustees, I extend to you our sincere thanks for your membership in NLA. Our goal is for the NLA to be the nation's preeminent bar association and to play a major role in the restoration of professionalism to the legal community. Get involved in NLA's committees and legal sections and help NLA reach these noble goals.
